You are beautiful

Being fat or bulgy doesn’t mean you’re ugly. It’s all the bad media campaign plus society dictating and brainwashing women that being fat is no good.

How many women have died or suffered from being anorexic? How many models have died because they were told they have to be thin as a reed to be models?

I’ve been following a blog by a twins who’s advocacy is to tell big or plus size women that size doesn’t matter. It’s not how much they weigh that matters; it’s their personality and how they see themselves that count.

Whether you’re wearing a plus size dress or size 0, be proud of who you are. Don’t mind what other people think about. As long as you’re healthy, then that’s alright. You are beautiful!

Challenges of crafting

I’ve got a lot of craft projects I want to make but since I don’t know where to buy the materials I’ll be needing. For example, I wanted to buy colored art papers but paper stores here in Prague don’t carry that kind of product. Dang! It has somehow discouraged me to continue with my desire. I miss that bookstore back in my country where they sell all sorts of supplies for office and school. It was my favorite place to hang out especially the book section.

Anyway, I resort to being resourceful and made use of whatever that is available here. With some luck, I was also able to find a store which sells arts and crafts materials, though they have limited varieties, its better than none at all. I’ll be throwing a party for my son’s birthday and I am trying to make some decorations which I found ’round the internet. I’m kinda excited so far with the results. Can’t wait to see all the finished projects make a show on that special day!

That funny shirt

While looking at my favorite website earlier, I noticed a small ad at the side of their page for customized t-shirts. The sample caught my eye coz it was one of those funny tshirts, where you get to read funny quotes or statements. Hubby is actually fond of these kinds of shirts, but don’t own even one. He just enjoys browsing on online samples but never ordered yet. I know some of his friends though have tried it already. I just got an idea for a great gift on his next birthday. It might be quite a surprise if he gets one of those funny tshirts. Definitely no foul words to be used!!!

Aftermath of Typhoon Sendong

You’ve probably already heard about the tragic typhoon Sendong that struck the Mindanao Province of the Philippines which badly hit Iligan and Cagayan de Oro. Landslides and flash floods took the lives of many people which happened at night while they’re sleeping. Many are still missing and the death toll is rising. Hundreds are homeless. They need help. Donations have been pouring in from individuals, companies, organizations and even international aid, but more is needed.

Many people need clothing, blankets, basic necessities like toiletries, medicine, milk and diapers for children and medical equipments like hospital cart. Money is also essential in rescue operations, and helping the victims.

Christmas is the season of giving, not just to our loved ones but to those who badly needs our help. These people have lost their families and properties, the little sacrifice we can give to help them is nothing compared to what they’ve lost. Share if you care!

Photography hobby

Owning a digital camera has become common already. Lately, more and more people are buying DSLR cameras even if its expensive. Many have made photography their hobby and would spend big money buying different kinds of lenses to take very good pictures. For nature enthusiasts, they’d even get underwater cameras to be able to capture the beauty underwater.

It’s quite tempting to get into this photography craze but I really don’t have the time and the enthusiasm to learn technical stuff about how to take good pictures, etc. So I am just satisfied with our point and shoot camera. There’s at least two photography enthusiasts in our family, so if I’d ever need their skills I just have to call them for help.

Wanna ski?

With the winter coming, someone asked me if we’d like to go skiing with them. I immediately asked her “what about the kids?” Since coming to Europe, I have never tried skiing coz motherhood got in the way. haha Well, on my first winter here, I was pregnant and then life got busy. It’s difficult to think how we’d enjoy skiing with two tiny kids with us. I think we’d wait when they’re older so we can all enjoy it. I’m not sure too if I’d be comfortable staying for at least a week in snow too. For most of the time, I’d be wearing a warm clothing like northface fleece jacket to keep me toasty and holding a mug of hot cacao! Hubby is probably wanting to hit the slopes. It’s been years since he last went skiing. I’m sure he misses that kind of fun. Do we wanna ski? Are we ready to do that? That’s the question I’ve got to ask him.

Upcoming wedding anniversary

Hubby and I will be celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary in 2 months time! Whew! I can’t imagine we’ve been married that long. It seems only like yesterday when we were just planning to start a family and then now, we have two adorable kids. I guess having kids can make time fly by so fast.

Since we’ve got kids,we find it difficult to go out on a date coz there’s no one who can watch the kids while we go. I hope this coming anniversary, we can plan it well and let either one of hubby’s parents take care of the little ones. Then I’d get him a special gift by looking up for anniversary gift ideas online so I don’t have to wrack my head thinking for a nice present for the hubby. Oh well, I just hope it will be a memorable this time, not just another day overshadowed by childcare and house chores!

Different kind of hunting

I wish there are nearby stores selling vintage clothing and accessories where I live. Several fashion blogs have featured their finds from vintage shops, and they really look lovely. I bet they’re cheap too compared to prices of these items in boutiques and malls. I also like to experience the fun in hunting for nice pieces among a pile of rings, necklaces, personalized lapel pins and other accessories. And then feeling that joy when finding a treasure among the junks, ahhhh! I’ve only been bargain hunting in several bazaars put up by some expatriates and the thrill of finding cheap yet good quality items was awesome! Its like winning a prize. Imagine scouring a a shiny set of 3 silver pearl bracelets for only $1.5? Or a fur coat for $2 which looked like it hasn’t ever been used? I tell you, thrifting is really fun. So yeah, the next time you pass by a flea market or a thrift shop, do go inside and check out what you can find there.

Convenience of online shopping

I like the convenience of online shopping, all the more now that its getting difficult to shop with two active two kids in tow. Taking them with us when shopping is a hassle sometimes haha. With online shopping, I can do it when the kids are asleep, or busy playing, I can search and compare prices easily with use of shopping sites such as omnea. I’ve had a lot of stuff already bought online, and I am one happy shopper.

My recent buys are pajamas for the kids, and pretty tops for me! The only sad thing about online shopping though is that I can’t immediately have my orders. I have to wait at least a day or two for my packages to arrive. But well, its better than having to drag my two kids with me and not be able to concentrate on choosing items well when they’re around.
