My mom has been reminding me to fill up some forms for my social security file. I have to change my name in their records coz I already have a new surname (cause of marriage). She has been encouraging me to continue my contribution coz it will come handy in the future.

These kinds of benefits like the disability insurance and medicare have truly helped a lot in times of needs. But sometimes the process of obtaining it can be long or tedious or one can even be denied availing it like the Medicare part D plans.

I’ve heard that there is a company providing services to speed up the process of obtaining benefits and they only charge a fee if they’re successful in getting what is due to the customer.

Ain’t it great? I know how frustrating it is to do all the tough work on our own. Its a relief knowing that there’s someone who will do the job for us.

Digital cameras are great travel companions, right? One can just click away at anything interesting when going outdoors. And especially now that spring is here…I just want to capture the season with my cam. Good thing, I can take as many photos as I can without worrying about wasting film, I can just delete the bad shots later on my hard disk. Everyday though, the photos and videos keep piling up in my computer. And for me, they’re as precious as any of those financial documents. I’m thinking of creating some DVD backups incase the inevitable happens.

For those who have loads of files in their computers, I’m sure they’d also want to keep copies. According to a survey, 1 out of 10 computer hard drives fail each year. That means a lot of data loss, whether it’s your favorite digital photos or important company documents. The usual backup would be hard copies either on another hard drive or on a CD/DVD disc. Last year my sis got something in the mail, it was a credit card specifically tailored for motorists. Getting fuel rebates via credit card was not really what my sis needed, but that card was her stepping stone to avail of another type of card from the same company which gives rewards or points for shopping. Those who are frequently on the road though could benefit from such credit cards which provide other motoring perks. Hmmm… motorists would surely love being given some roadside assistance, such as that of good sam motorhome towing, or other discounts and privileges exclusively for motorists.

what to place inside a balikbayan box?

What do kababayans place inside a balikbayan box? I know most would usually canned goods, lotions, shampoos, soaps, chocolates, bags, dresses and other things which they think would be useful for their family back home.

Recently a friend has been offering us with balikbayan box for only 60-90 euros with no weight limit (price depending on the destination of the package). I was told it’s a big box. I couldn’t think how to fill such a big box. It’s a bit unpractical to send the usual stuff like what other country mates are doing coz these items can also be bought in our country. If ever I should send a box back home, I was thinking of filling it up with things that can’t be bought there like some house accessories and kitchen items from Ikea, used electronics which they can still salvaged like bluray dvd player or a mini-vacuum which I noticed is much cheaper here and other stuff like that.

Anyway as of now, I didn’t get a balikbayan box yet. Maybe in the future I’ll have a need for it. Maybe when the time comes for us to transfer residence.

Last summer, we travelled a lot; riding on planes, travelling by car, or taking a bus. It was fun coz the family was with us.
