Last night, my sis and her long time friends met at a mall and they had a great time exchanging updates about their lives. It was funny because they ended up brainstorming about recycling and having a garage sale and putting up a project for a cause. Well, that’s what you get when great minds convene, all these creative ideas would just come up.

Anyway, regarding recycling and waste management, it’s really good to do whatever way we can to help the environment. That’s why my sis will be gathering those electronic junk in our house–floppy disks, hard disk drives, ink cartridges, batteries and other unused stuff. This type of waste should not be thrown as ordinary trash as they’re considered as electronic waste and needed to be disposed accordingly. Otherwise, you’ll be polluting the environment with non-biodegradable waste.

Thus, if you have those empty ink cartridges from your Epson receipt printer or if you still have those damaged hard drives, better do a search of recycling programs within your area. Some of them even offer cash for your trash.

My sis just got herself a new toy, an Asus pink netbook. She travels a lot these days so she prefers buying a netbook than a laptop. After looking at some Cyber Monday deals online though, she kept comparing the prices of the netbooks with the one she bought. The prices are really low for these online computer deals and she’s eyeing the 12” Asus Eee PC 1201N as she finds the 10” netbook she’s using now as too fine and small for working with graphics.

A traveler needs a sturdy luggage to survive the demands of use and abuse. Most of the luggage I have were good only for two to three uses and they’re already torn or destroyed. Sigh. But my sister’s Samsonite luggage which is already like a decade old is still unbeaten and in good condition. Even the Samsonite duffel bag I bought last year still looks like new even after several uses. When I have enough money to spare for a traveling bag, I swear I’ll buy Samsonite coz it has really been proven to be of high quality. Anyway, I don’t see myself traveling in the next 6 months, so there’s no need to buy a luggage yet. But since Christmas, maybe I can ask Santa Claus to give me a Samsonite bag. hehehe Where are you Santa?

Parents with teens and youngsters are probably being coaxed by their children to buy Wii console and Wii accessories, that is if they don’t have it yet. There are some kids who would demand from their parents to buy them the latest gadgets or high-tech toys. Not all parents can afford to buy these stuff. With the technology getting more advanced, we don’t know what other game inventions will come out in the future. But one thing is for sure, those days when kids would rather spend time outdoors flying kites or climbing trees are getting to be the thing of the past. Those are being replaced by the computers, the internet, Wii games, and other technology-related activities.

My hubby’s former cell phone didn’t have color display, it could not play MP3s and it cannot connect to the internet, but it needed to be recharged only once in two weeks and served its purpose well. But then one day it died and needed to be replaced by a new one.

As we travel a lot by car, we also thought about purchasing a GPS navigation device. He decided to
combine both in one and purchased a Windows Mobile phone with build in GPS module. But soon he found out that the navigation software needs much more memory space than what was provided internally in the unit.

Good thing that the manufacturer knew this will happen and the phone comes with built-in micro sd slot. With technology advancing so fast, it is not a problem to find a 8GB/16GB card that can hold all the data anyone can ever need, and for a very good price.

After watching the TV guesting of Mar Roxas and Korina Sanchez in Wowowee, I can say that investing in expensive engagement rings isn’t such a bad idea at all. You see, the diamond ring that Mr. Roxas gave to his future bride was actually from his grandmother. It’s handed down from generations, freeing the Roxas men from buying expensive engagement rings. And the women they wooed didn’t even mind that the ring was a recycled gift (as long as it’s from the man they love!). Hehehe…

A close person I know confided that she might have been a victim of a scammer. For months she was chatting with this very likeable young man. She found his personality pleasing and was surprised to find out they have many common interests. Until she realized that this guy is too good to be true. She did a research and although the name the guy gave really exists; my friend doubted its truth. She thinks that the guy is using the identity of another person and could also be using this scheme to get facts about her which the scammer might use in the future. identity theft protection is important but even if we may use software to safeguard our identity, there are just many ways how evil scammers can extract vital information from innocent people. We have to be vigilant.

mold problems

Do you have mold problems? Molds thrive in cold and damp places such as basements or bathrooms. I remember once in the bedroom we’re using at my mother-in-law’s house, the corners of the walls have grayish molds sticking to it. They look dirty. Good thing my husband bought a mold killer which effectively eliminated the ugly looking dirt. In the apartment we’re living now, I still haven’t seen molds on the walls yet. It’s probably coz the temperature inside the house is always warm.
