Hubby and I will be celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary in 2 months time! Whew! I can’t imagine we’ve been married that long. It seems only like yesterday when we were just planning to start a family and then now, we have two adorable kids. I guess having kids can make time fly by so fast.

Since we’ve got kids,we find it difficult to go out on a date coz there’s no one who can watch the kids while we go. I hope this coming anniversary, we can plan it well and let either one of hubby’s parents take care of the little ones. Then I’d get him a special gift by looking up for anniversary gift ideas online so I don’t have to wrack my head thinking for a nice present for the hubby. Oh well, I just hope it will be a memorable this time, not just another day overshadowed by childcare and house chores!

I recently texted a friend of mine who is pregnant to ask how she is doing. The last time I heard from her was about three weeks ago when she called on my daughter’s birthday. She told me then that she was advised by her doctor to go on bed rest as her pregnancy is quite delicate. So I found out that she’s still on bed rest, but she’s keeping herself occupied by reviewing. With what, that I don’t know.

I have some baby care videos that I want to share with her. It would be nice if my girlfriends and I can set up a date to visit her, and even arrange a baby shower and make baby shower invitations for her. I’m sure she will really appreciate such thought especially that she probably is missing some girl bonding. She lives quite far though, and with everybody’s schedule being so difficult to synchronize, it will be tricky to plan a date for a visit.

Finding a lawyer who sincerely wants to help you, beyond monetary gains can be difficult. When your life or reputation is at stake, you only want a person whom you can truly trust to get you out of trouble. That’s why I was quite impressed reading an article about the raleigh commercial litigation lawyers who give quality service to their clients by patiently listening to their needs and finding the best solutions to their problems. They also get involved with pro bono services indirectly by mentoring their interns who then provided the services to the clients. If the community can get access to professional services that really cares for their clients, then there’s no doubt the world would be a better place to live in.

Facebook sure is a place to get the freshest news. Hehehhe For a person like me who don’t really read the current events regularly, Facebook feeds me with what’s happening around the world. It is where I learned about the death of former PH Secretary of Defense Angelo Reyes who apparently killed himself. On Friday, my FB contacts were posting links and videos about the earthquake and tsunami that took place in Japan. Such a terrible thing to happen to anyone. My heart breaks thinking the harrowing experience the victims and survivors went through. Then today, when I checked my FB, there was news posted about Miguel Cotto’s win over Mayorga. The Puertorican boxer has more than 30 wins, and have lots of sport trophies or awards collected from his fights.

These kinds of news and also personal news about family and friends are brought to me by Facebook.

When we spend our vacation in our country, we see to it that we buy gifts for our loved ones back home. We call these gifts “pasalubong”, something to make them happy upon our arrival, a looked-forward Filipino culture.

It’s sometimes difficult to go around shopping in malls and department stores, trying to find things that fit the person to whom we give a certain gift, with the thought of choosing something to please them. But there is one person who does not require us to stay long at the men’s clothing department to choose what to give him, as he is not fussy about what he wears, and he’s my dad. Surely, he’s not hard to please! Anyway, if he does not like what we buy for him, he just will not wear it; there’s no complaining, you don’t hear a word, hehehe

Filipinos are fond of singing. Whenever there are parties, you can bet someone would take out their magic sing and everyone will take turns singing their favorite songs. In carenderias (small restaurants), you can even see karaoke machines stationed for customers’ use.

This love for singing has brought many of our countrymen to fame. Take for example Charice Pempengco, or Arnel Pineda. Having grown into a society that has a strong attachment to music has influenced them for sure.

The next time you attend a party, and someone gives you the microphone to sing, don’t let the opportunity pass. It is a lot of fun pretending to be your favorite singer, even for that moment only.

I was surprised when one came running towards me. She held out her hand and introduced herself.

Well, she chose the wrong prey! I didn’t have the time to listen what she has to offer. My little daughter was with me and I was even distracting her coz she wanted to go to the toy store. These people should have an eye who to approach. Moms with kids are definitely not good prospects!

Ain’t it fun to be a kid? All they care about is playing and running around.

We took the kids to the playground last weekend and they had a blast there. There were slides, swings, a big pirate ship to explore, tunnels to crawl inside, bars to swing their tiny bodies, seesaws that lets them go up and down, stairs to go up and down too and a big ground for running… There’s also a small food stall that sells gyros and ice cream. It was a simple weekend treat for them but they really enjoyed it a lot. See the pictures below!

This one looks like a good ab workout, what do you think?

And this is a useful way of using an old tire. I want to sit there and sway, sway, swayyyyyy!

The summer season is a great time to go camping. It remains a wish for me to do in the future coz we still have a little baby in the family. I don’t know if he will be comfortable staying out at night if ever we go camping. If we have an rv (recreational vehicle), it would be cool. We can go anywhere we want to and still have the convenience of home which makes it easy for those families with kids. Maybe I have to add in my wish rv too. Oh and rv repair when ever we need our vehicle to be fixed. Now, that’s super cool!

One of the people I admire is my Auntie L who’s still active and looking good even at 70 plus. Last year she visited the Philippines and met my Mom and sister and stayed with them in Manila.

If you observe Auntie L’s face, it’s so smooth and wrinkle-free but according to her, she doesn’t use any soap, she just washes her face with… water! Yup, that’s right. She’s also including lots and lots of nutrient-rich papaya in her diet. Her favorite hot drink is rice coffee which she prepares herself by roasting rice grains in a pot. Rice coffee is caffeine-free and a healthy alternative to the regular coffee most people consume and it has that native coffee taste.

My auntie is still very much physically active compared to other people her age who already need natural arthritis treatments and other prescribed medications to maintain their health. Keep it up Auntie L!
