What makes special occasions memorable, aside from celebrating them with dining out at a favorite restaurant, watching movies, walking in the park, having picnic or holding a simple get-together party, is the giving of presents. Yup, birthdays, anniversaries and important events are best remembered by the gifts received. And now that Mother’s Day is nearing, I’m sure most of us are planning what special gift to give our moms.

According to a recent consumer survey by the National Retail Federation (NRF), more shoppers will spend more for their mothers this year compared to 2009. The well-off might be considering one of these expensive loose diamonds, or treat their moms to a travel package, while for those who are on budget, a simple home-cooked meal or some lovely flowers picked from the garden could already make their moms smile. Yup, it’s really the thought that’s important when planning for gifts during special occasions.

condo changes

I was chatting with my sister earlier thru YM and my mom was also around. Mom gave some suggestions about our condo, how to make it earn more money. I was told that many tenants are looking for a 2-bedroom unit but ours only has 1. Mom suggested to change the current lay-out of the condo to make way for a small room.

My sister is in charge of the design and furnishing the condo, so I asked her to provide me a proposed plan with the extra room. She has yet to make the cad drawing and show it to me. I hope there is really enough space for the additional room so our unit will make more money!

having an outdoor pool

Does having a swimming pool involve too much maintenance? It’s nice to have a pool in the house especially if you have kids. I can just imagine how much fun my little girl would have if we own one. I am glad that one of the lot we bought is located in a resort-like subdivision which has its own swimming pool. In the future when we finally have our house constructed there, the kids (yes, we’re expecting more to come!) will surely love swimming there and spend lots of time there. At least it’s the subdivision’s management which will handle the cleaning and maintenance of the pool, which includes changing the pool’s filter. The filter doesn’t really cost much. I saw it being sold online along with spa filters for less than $50 depending on the type but its the maintenance that can be bothersome.

how do you keep the rugs clean?

Cleaning up the area rugs in our home has become a daily task when our little girl learned how to eat. The food crumbs that fall whenever she eats needs to be vacuumed immediately. Sometimes when the food she eats has sauce, spills can’t be avoided. That has to be cleaned with soap and water. And because she’s fond of eating, I clean her mess like every minute! I’m even thinking of keeping away the rugs coz the vinyl floor is much easier to clean than the rugs. Or covering the rug with a plastic sheet when she eats is another solution. How about you? Care to share some of your household cleaning tips on this problem?

I know I should be posting pictures here but it’s been many months now and this blog has been swarmed with topics ranging from health, car insurance, ac compressor, shoes, etc.! Achhh! It’s quite frustrating when you want to take down notes and there isn’t any pen around. One time I was in the phone and in a hurry to write something important, I saw many promotional pens on the bed but none of them would write! Arghhh! I threw them away immediately and got new ones from the store.

taking care of pets

Fancy a pet? Well, it seems I’m not really into taking care of animals. But I do love to watch these cute creatures in action. They’re cute, cuddly and they can be funny too.

Hubby is the exact opposite. He loves animals to the point of playing and cuddling them. He’s even good in pet care and he used to buy pet supplements for his mom’s dog. Now our little girl seems to be interested in animals too especially dogs. One day she might ask for her own pet. It’s alright with me as long as she takes care of it herself or she can ask her dad for help.

Coming home from our vacation, I was greeted by a stuck elevator in our flat. Arghhhh! It was very unfortunate to arrive with plenty of heavy baggage only to find out that we can’t ride the lift up to our floor. We had to ride one floor up then take the emergency stairs going down to our floor. It’s really a hassle! A stair lift would be great to help us with our bags. Hehehe. Anyway, until now the lift is still stuck. I wish it be fixed so we can easily go up to our floor

I just thought of asking coz there is a site that is selling movie posters and they are having a sale! So maybe you can spread this info to them coz they can find many posters there.
