schooling for my kids

As a mother of two now, naturally my mind would sometimes think about the times when my kids will be schooling. This will involve all kinds of tests and stages which they will have to go through. They will pass through nursery school, then kindergarten, before they will go through preparatory school. Then they have to take entrance examinations or tests usually given by schools before they accept students. There will also be standardized college admissions exams, pretty much like the SAT or “Scholastic Aptitude Test” in the US.

Oh well, all a parent can do is give her full support for her kids in their academic endeavors, whether it’s a simple quiz or a SAT prep exam. Hmmm…I know it’s still a long way to go. Meanwhile, I have to go to the kitchen to find out what’s for lunch before the baby will be awake.

voters’ education

With the May 2010 elections almost here, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) is busy educating people about the basics of the automated elections. They even encouraged media personalities such as popular stars and celebrities to help inform voters about this. So folks, expect your favorite TV crush visiting your area soon. Nope, they won’t be talking or endorsing some beauty products or diet aids. Let’s see how well they can teach and educate the public about using the automated poll machine.

I heard another story of somebody losing her job recently, only a week before Christmas! What a way to start the new year. The hard times are not yet over, in fact hubby’s company is implementing cost-cutting by vacating one of their offices located in a prime district and transfer to it’s former location which is smaller and much cheaper in rent.

No wonder many people are already shifting careers or furthering their studies in order to survive the financial crisis. One of the most common way professionals cope with this problem is by enrolling in an online university while still working or looking for another work. One teacher friend of mine has taken a masteral degree in education because she thinks this will give her the edge among other teachers. Others have taken online mba in prestigious online universities such as the Western Governors University which offers many courses students can choose from. By online education, this means they have the flexibility to control their time and pace of their study. Online education has many advantages which makes it a hit with students who are busy or those who have very limited time.

If you want to make yourself marketable to employers, a shift in career or getting more knowledge in your field of study is a good thing to do. Who knows, the career crisis you’re in now maybe a blessing in disguise, an opportunity to inspire you to strive better coz in the end, there’s is something good waiting for you.

Many professionals have shifted courses or careers because their chosen profession isn’t giving them enough earnings. When there was a big demand for nurses in US and UK, even licensed doctors from our country took nursing courses so they can work abroad for bigger salaries.

With the help of internet, they can still continue with their work and go to school at the same time because of online degree programs offered. Online courses are good for busy people who only have limited time. They choose their own schedules and do their school work at their convenience. They don’t need to commute to school; and what’s best is they can do it anytime, anywhere.
