designing your own accessories

Accessories plays a big part when I’m dressing up. A simple, plain tee or blouse can become interesting when worn with sparkling or colorful necklace, earrings or bracelets. That’s why I like browsing on fashion blogs to get inspiration from other women on what to wear and how to style their looks. I also check out stores to see their different products.

I recently discovered this great site selling beautiful chamilia beads which you can use to create your own bracelets or necklaces. They have many kinds of beads to choose from, giving you many possibilities to design your own unique accessories. My sister and I used to make our own accessories and up to this day, we still have a big box of beads, stones and other bead craft stuff stashed in the closet at home. This is one hobby that I would like to do again when I get to have the time.

unique laptop skins

Last month while searching for Christmas gifts online, I came across an ad offering 50% discount on laptop skins. There were so many designs to choose from, and you can even create your own for a more personalized look. It would have been a great gift for laptop owners. I myself would have loved to get one coz it not only protects the laptop from scratches, it also makes your laptop unique.

How would I like my skin to look like? Here are few of the designs I prefer:

Ahhhh… If I have my own laptop, I’d definitely get one for myself.

what i want…

I’ve been watching a lot of home improvements and interior design shows on TV lately which inspired me to start thinking how to improve the looks of our home in Talisay. It’s an old house and the materials and finishes do need a lot of make-over. I like our space to have a contemporary and modern look with lots of storage. I want to get rid of our old furnitures most especially throw those junk in our old kitchen that’s occupying space. If only mom and dad would give me more freedom; freedom for changes and for eliminating unused things from our house to make way for new stuff. But I bet both of them would agree if we replace the old big TV in the living room to a Samsung LCD TV. It would be cool, modern not to mention space-saving too!

With our up-coming planned vacation to Philippines this summer, and probably bring with us few guests, I want our house to look wonderful by then. But, money is also an issue if we want to have renovations at home. And it’s not something that we have a lot these days. hehehe

home accessories

Shopping for home accessories can be tough sometimes. Whether it’s a table runner, a wall art or a door hanger printing design, you need to look for the right colors and textures to match your furniture and design style. Even until now, my sis still hasn’t found a big vase decor for the floor of my condo unit which she’s working on these days. I already sent her some pics of samples I prefer, so they have to scout for similar pieces when they’ll visit the malls soon.

design ideas for small spaces

Having a cramped space can be a challenge to interior designers. My sis is currently doing some condo projects with about 48 square meters of space and according to her, designing the furniture and spaces can be tough. The kitchen is small but functional as there are lots of storage spaces and the working area is adequate. The bedroom, dining area and the living room have relatively enough spaces as well and are not too crowded compared to other condo units she’s been to. The only downside is the bathroom which she finds too cramped. Well at least the walls and flooring are finished with long-lasting granite tiles which are better than the usual ceramic tiles, so that makes up for the lack of space.

Anyway, according to sis, here are some tricks to make your space bigger:
- Use light colors for the walls, furniture, etc. and use printed or darker colors as accent only.
- Use mirrors to provide the illusion of additional space.
- Maximize storage spaces (closets, cabinets, etc.) and use furniture with built-in storage, e.g. bed with drawers underneath or sofa with storage.
- Use space-saving appliances, e.g. slim TVs and home entertainment system, LCD monitors, etc.
- Use furniture proportional to the given space, e.g. not bulky ones.
