Golden family event
By carmel | March 14, 2015
Last year was a hectic one for our family. Our parents celebrated their 50th golden wedding anniversary last December and we decided to have it with family and friends. There was a renewal of marriage vows in a small chapel in a subdivision just within our locality, and dinner in a nearby resort.
All the preparations were mostly handled by yours truly, as my siblings were all abroad. They helped a lot in the planning and preparation, but I did most of the hands-on tasks, from making the invitations and tokens, to booking the venue for the ceremony and the reception, and the many other details such as the flowers, decors, photographer, videographer, etc.
We also bought them a new pair of wedding bands, as Mom’s old ring was deformed while Dad lost his ring. We were thinking of ordering a custom-made pair for them but thankfully we found a good set of rings just in a nearby department store. For those who are planning to get married, nowadays there are many online shops offering a lot of stylish choices and couples can easily browse at joyjewelers.com for gold wedding bands and other elegant jewelries.
Despite some hitches, I’m thankful that my parents’ golden wedding celebration was a success. It was a simple celebration of thanksgiving to our family and close friends, and especially to God. We are truly blessed as a family that our parents still are in good health and they have reached such a momentous milestone as a married couple.
