learning how to use the PCOS

    By DGH | February 2, 2010

Most of the news in our country is about the upcoming elections this May. The commission on elections (COMELEC) is currently touring election hotspots and remote areas to educate people on the automated elections using the electronic voting machine known as the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machine. There are some doubts about the results being intercepted by signal jammers or manipulated by other electronic means. Anyway, COMELEC assured the people that this won’t happen and we have to accept the new system to ensure faster processing of votes and without fraud.

With the ongoing voter’s education drive, the COMELEC is teaching the voters how to use the PCOS. In a recent TV news, a senior citizen who tried it herself finished voting in about 5 minutes only. The estimated time for a person to use the machine is about 10 minutes. I wonder when they will be coming to our city for the poll automation orientation. I’m curious about using the PCOS machine and I’m sure it will be just as simple as learning some shopping tips for buying life insurance or knowing how to send SMS using a mobile phone.
